The ford Motor Company is an American multinational corporation based in Dearborn, Michigan, a suburb of Detroit. Founded by Henry Ford in 1903 it has over the years been one of the top vehicle manufacturers in the world. Some of its brands that have been hugely popular world wide are the Ford, Lincoln, and Mercury brands. It also owns Volvo Cars of Sweden, and has a small stake in Mazda of Japan and Aston Martin of England. A pioneer in many fields of auto manufacturing, it was the first to introduce methods for large-scale manufacturing of cars and large-scale management of an industrial workforce.

Ford is currently the fourth-largest automaker in the world, directly behind Volkswagen. In 2008, Ford produced 5.532 million automobiles. It announced that it will bring six of its more fuel-efficient European models to the U.S. These vehicles are designed to operate smoothly using a wide range of available ethanol fuel mixtures. Some of the Ford E85 Flexible Fuel Vehicles sold in North America and Europe are Ford F-150, Ford Crown Victoria, Ford Focus, Ford C-MAX, Mercury Grand Marquis Lincoln Town Car etc. It also markets these vehicles to other parts of the world including Brazil.
